The MedCity INVEST Pitch Perfect contest saw some compelling presentations by four groups of entrepreneurs seeking to make a difference in healthcare. Efforts to prevent smoking, obesity could delay the need for angioplasty and stenting

Smokers needed their blocked arteries fixed nearly a decade earlier than non-smokers, and patients with obesity underwent these procedures four years earlier than non-obese patients, according to a new statewide study. The research included patients without a history of heart attack who were treated at hospitals across Michigan participating in BMC2, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Cardiovascular Consortium. Bright Health follows rival Oscar Health down IPO path

Bright Health Group is officially going public, joining its rivals Oscar Health and Clover Health. The insurance technology startup filed preliminary paperwork for an initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday, which shows it has set its maximum aggregate offering price at $100 million — though that is likely a placeholder figure until the company prices its shares.
